SpongeBob Day celebration starts on July 14
Nickelodeon has officially declared July 14 as “SpongeBob Day,” establishing an annual celebration that coincides with SpongeBob SquarePants’ birthday within the world of the series.
To mark the occasion, SpongeBob voice actor Tom Kenny will host a TikTok Live on July 14 at 6 p.m. ET, featuring behind-the-scenes commentary, three previously unseen alternate endings to the classic episode “Shanghaied,” first looks at upcoming specials, exclusive toy reveals, and more.
Nickelodeon will also air fan-favorite episodes beginning at 2 p.m. ET/PT on July 14, alongside all-day marathons on Nicktoons and Nick Pluto, as well as a SpongeBob takeover on Nick.com. On the same day, the official Patrick Star YouTube channel will launch with clips, shorts, compilations, and live streams from “The Patrick Star Show” and “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
Celebration extends to Roblox
The celebration will extend to Roblox, where “SpongeBob SquarePants Tower Defense” will receive new in-game content for SpongeBob Day, continuing the game’s streak of more than 70 consecutive weeks of weekly updates. The title has reached over 200,000 peak concurrent users.
Meanwhile, “The Patrick Star Show” will release its first-ever music across streaming platforms, beginning with “Watch Out for That Rake” on July 9. The full album, “Patrick Star Superstar,” will be available for pre-sale starting July 14.
Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts
SpongeBob Day will also be celebrated at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts in Punta Cana and Riviera Maya, Nickelodeon Universe theme parks at Mall of America and American Dream, and other attractions. Throughout July, international markets including Asia, Latin America, Germany, and the U.K. will feature localized programming, digital content, and regional campaigns. In addition, “SpongeBob SquarePants”-themed activations will be available at The New Children’s Museum in downtown San Diego beginning July 11, ahead of Comic-Con.
One of Nickelodeon’s most successful franchises
Originally launched in 1999, “SpongeBob SquarePants” remains one of Nickelodeon’s most successful franchises. Created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon, the series has aired more than 300 episodes and expanded into multiple spin-offs and films. Its most recent theatrical release, “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,”premiered in December 2025.
