Studio 100 International and Animaj: Strategic alliance for Maja the Bee
Maya the Bee embarks on new adventures: Studio 100 International and French media company Animaj have entered into a comprehensive partnership to take the popular Maya the Bee brand into its next 50 years.
This alliance combines Studio 100's long-standing expertise in international content production and marketing, brand development, and theme parks with Animaj's digital and AI-driven strengths. While Studio 100 will retain responsibility for the German-speaking markets, the Benelux region, and all cinema productions—including the planned spin-off “Arnie & Barney”—and their international distribution, Animaj will take over the digital development of the brand, as well as the new production and international exploitation of series.
Storytelling and innovation
Both companies share a passion for storytelling and innovation. Their goal is to authentically develop Maja's stories, give the brand new impetus, and make it accessible to a global audience via new platforms and formats.
The 50th anniversary of “Maya the Bee” marks the ideal moment to rediscover it as an established brand and reinterpret it for future generations. The anniversary is already being celebrated internationally this year, with the highlight in Germany following next year.
Bridging the gap between generations
For decades, Maya the Bee has stood not only for nature, friendship, and independence, but also for intergenerational solidarity. Parents and grandparents who grew up with her are now experiencing her anew together with their children and grandchildren. With a presence in over 100 countries, successful TV formats, books, and many products, the cult bee has long been a global phenomenon.
Forward-looking model for brand development in children's entertainment
The partnership exemplifies a new model in children's and family entertainment: classic brand management meets a digital-first, AI-supported approach to sustainably increase reach and relevance. The goal of both partners is to preserve the core of the “Maya the Bee” brand while further developing the narrative style – from traditional television to YouTube, games, music, and other digital formats. Studio 100 International and Animaj share a common vision of telling Maya's stories in a modern way and bringing them to life on new platforms – so that she continues to inspire children and families worldwide and remains one of the most relevant children's characters in the world.
With this step, Studio 100 International is strengthening its position as one of the leading independent European media companies in the field of children's and family entertainment.
