The international toy industry mourns the death of Richard Gottlieb

Richard Gottlieb, founder and CEO of Global Toy Experts, publisher of Global Toy News and co-host of the Playground Podcast, passed away late last week after a short, serious illness.

Gottlieb publicly announced his diagnosis in January: "My mantra has always been that I can't control much in life, but I can control a lot, and I will," Gottlieb said at the time.

Aware of his serious illness, Gottlieb continued to be passionately involved in the toy industry, travelling the world to attend trade fairs and events - all with an infectious smile and enthusiasm that lasted until the end.

At the recent Toy Fair in New York, he showed no signs of his illness. On the contrary: he gave a future-oriented outlook on the development of the industry in 2024 and beyond.
