The Walt Disney Company: new Chief Communications Officer

Paul Roeder has been named Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer of The Walt Disney Company, effective March 19, as announced by incoming CEO Josh D’Amaro. A 25-year Disney veteran, Roeder most recently served as Executive Vice President of Communications for Disney Entertainment Studios, Direct-to-Consumer, and International.

As Chief Communications Officer, Roeder will report directly to D’Amaro and lead Disney’s global communications and public relations strategy. He will oversee enterprise and business segment communications as well as regional teams in EMEA, APAC, and Latin America, managing media relations, executive and internal communications, public affairs, corporate social responsibility, and employee engagement.

Respected leader

D’Amaro praised Roeder as a respected leader with strong relationships across the company and the entertainment industry, highlighting his deep understanding of Disney and confidence in his leadership of the global communications teams.

Roeder said he is honored to take on the role at an important moment for Disney and expressed appreciation to D’Amaro, Dana Walden, Alan Bergman, and Bob Iger for their support and mentorship.

Global communication strategies

Since being named to lead communications for Disney Entertainment in 2023, Roeder has overseen global communications strategies for The Walt Disney Studios and its production studios, including Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures, as well as teams supporting Disney’s direct-to-consumer, technology, distribution, and international businesses.

Roeder has led communications for The Walt Disney Studios since 2010 and was part of the executive team during major milestones such as Disney’s acquisitions of Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox and the 2019 launch of Disney+, as well as the release of major films including Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Frozen, and Inside Out 2.

He joined Disney’s ABC communications team in 2001 and later worked in Corporate Communications from 2002 to 2010.
