TimeTEX acquires HCM Kinzel
TimeTEX HERMEDIA Verlag GmbH has acquired the educational games publisher HCM Kinzel, marking a strong start to 2026 for both companies. The HCM Kinzel brand will continue under the TimeTEX umbrella. “HCM Kinzel will remain active in the market,” says Christoph W. J. Hercher, Managing Director of TimeTEX. “Its educational games portfolio fits perfectly with our focus on teachers and schools.”
TimeTEX and HCM Kinzel will jointly exhibit at the Nuremberg Toy Fair from 27–31 January 2026 in Hall 4, Booth D-03.
TimeTEX has taken over
HCM Kinzel filed for insolvency in May 2025 after more than 30 years in business and ceased operations. As part of an asset deal, TimeTEX has taken over inventory, customer data, products, brands, and domains. Successful titles such as the logic game BRAINDROPS will soon return to retail under TimeTEX management.
Growing with a financially strong partner
“We are pleased that the brand can continue and grow with a financially strong partner,” says Markus Kinzel, former co-owner of HCM Kinzel. Planned projects in the area of brain and logic games, including additions to the BRAINGAME series, will now be developed further.
Expanded portfolio of educational games
TimeTEX, one of the leading suppliers of teaching and school materials, will strengthen both its B2C and fast-growing B2B business across Europe through the acquisition. In the future, retailers, teachers, and educational institutions alike will benefit from the expanded portfolio of educational games.
