Top Plush Toy Trends for 2026
Despite the numerous new options appearing on the toy market every year, plush toys continue to enjoy great popularity. Shortly before the start of the toy industry's strongest sales season, Gifts & Decorative Accessories launched a consumer survey: “2026 Gift Book Consumer Survey.”
High demand across generations
According to the results of this survey, more than half of Generation Z respondents (58 percent) plan to buy stuffed animals in the next 12 months. Close behind are Generation X consumers (54 percent). At 47 percent, just under half of the millennials surveyed are interested in making a purchase. Baby boomers come in last place, with only 43 percent planning to buy a stuffed animal. Thanks to the high demand across generations, toy manufacturers are able to develop a wide range of stuffed animal designs for the market.
Pet inspired designs
The trend is mainly towards plush toys that represent popular dog breeds in small animal format. The number of pet owners has risen sharply in recent years, so miniature versions of beloved four-legged friends are very popular. Of course, they are also an easy-care alternative for non-dog owners.
Integrated technology
In addition, plush toys with built-in technology are enjoying great popularity. These enable interactive play not only for children, but are also used in the context of dementia.
