Two Oscar nominations for Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters

Netflix’s most-watched film of all time has earned two nominations at the 98th Academy Awards: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Golden.”

“Golden” and a life-changing journey

Song nominee EJAE, who co-wrote and performs “Golden” as the singing voice of protagonist Rumi, described the nomination as life-changing. Originally aiming for a Billboard Hot 100 hit, she said having that success come through a K-pop song with Korean lyrics is deeply significant.

Since its release in June 2025, KPop Demon Hunters has amassed major accolades. The film won Best Animated Feature and Best Song at the Critics Choice Awards, followed by Best Motion Picture – Animated and Best Original Song at the Golden Globe Awards. It has also received 10 Annie Award nominations and five Grammy nominations, including Song of the Year for “Golden.”
