Van Gogh meets Pokémon
The Van Gogh Museum and Pokémon Company International have entered into a collaboration that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Vincent Van Gogh - including a variety of surprising activities in the museum and online.
Japan, a common denominator
The collaboration, which runs through Jan. 7, 2024, at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, is part of the museum's 50th anniversary celebrations and aims to bring the artist's work to new audiences.
The common denominator of Vincent van Gogh's work and Pokémon is a special connection to Japanese art and culture. Japanese prints had a strong influence on Van Gogh's art and his view of the world.
“This collaboration will allow the next generation to get to know Vincent van Gogh’s art and life story in a refreshing way,” commented Emilie Gordenker, general director of the Van Gogh Museum.
