YouTube remains dominant in the streaming market share
YouTube is still growing in terms of streaming time. This is confirmed by the latest data from Nielsen.
According to Nielsen's “The Gauge” overview of the largest streaming video services in the US, YouTube reached a new high of 12% of total streaming viewing time in March.
This puts YouTube well ahead of Netflix, Disney+ and other streaming providers, making it the top entertainment option for streaming users. YouTube was already the leading streaming platform in terms of viewing time in 2023. In July last year, it reached a record 10% of total streaming watch time, as noted in this month's The Gauge report.
The popularity of its CTV offerings, including YouTube Shorts, makes it a serious competitor to traditional television.
