Yu-Gi-Oh! Celebrates 25th Anniversary at Japan's largest stadium
Twenty-five years ago, on February 4, 1999, Konami's very first Yu-Gi-Oh! card game hit Japanese stores, sparking a phenomenon that continues to this day.
Next February, Yu-Gi-Oh! will celebrate its 25th anniversary at the 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome. The program includes the two-day Quarter Century: The Legend of the Duelist. The announcement for the big tournament was made during the opening ceremony of the World Championships for Yu-Gi-Oh! in Tokyo.
However, further details about this mega event, which will take place beyond February 23 and 24 next year, remain under wraps for now. However, it is expected to be an event of unprecedented magnitude. Just recently, it was announced that 9,935 players participated in 20 national tournaments for the European World Championship Qualifier in June - a record for the European TCG.
Another distinctive highlight: for the first time since 1999, the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game is returning to Japan's largest arena.
