ZAG develops an animated franchise inspired by Carmen Jorda

ZAG is venturing into new territory with Carmen, a motorsport-themed entertainment franchise inspired by former Formula 1 development driver Carmen Jorda. This initiative represents the studio’s first foray into the world of racing and will feature an animated feature film, an animated series, and a comprehensive global licensing and consumer products program.

Writing history

Jorda—who previously worked as a development driver for Lotus and Renault and raced in GP3, Indy Lights, and the Le Mans Series—was one of just 11 women in history to be part of a Formula 1 team’s driver roster. Her recent appointment as Alpine’s head of the F1 Academy, where she will guide female drivers and support the team’s 2026 F1 Academy entry, highlights her continued dedication to advancing women in motorsport.

Telling Carmen's story

Her real-life achievements and personal story serve as the foundation for the new franchise. Carmen, a young driver finding her way through an intense and demanding racing world where heightened emotions influence every lap. The feature will combine character-focused storytelling with stylized racing sequences as Carmen faces fear, self-doubt, and fierce rivals on her path toward fulfilling a lifelong dream.
